I most sincerely endorse the nomination of Alberto Portugheis for the Nobel Peace Prize. Everything that Mr. Portugheis stands for, and has been advocating for a great many years now, reflect the ideals and aims expounded by Alfred Nobel. To award this most prestigious of all prizes to Alberto Portugheis would really send a very serious message to all governments which proclaim 'peace', but at the same time encourage war. |

Hereby I want to express my full support for the candidature of Alberto Portugheis. I have known Alberto for a while now, and I am conscious of his dedication to any human activity, mostly in music, his life passion. There is no art if there is no peace, external and internal. Alberto personifies this completely. His contribution to the world is to bring physical and spiritual peace to mankind.

The world needs to hear Alberto Portugheis's message loudly and clearly....that the arms trade and militarism in general must be exposed for what they truly are - they are contemptible and destructive for humanity. We must stop heaping glory on the military machine (as well as our soldiers who 'fight wars on our behalf in order to preserve our way of life'). To believe in the military is to believe in mass-murder and terror as a means to an end - in 2008, surely we should have learned by now that militarism is not a solution for solving our problems, no mater how noble and just? No wars are being fought in my name.
Keep shouting at the top of your voice, Alberto.

His tenacity and unflinched commitment is a beacon of inspiration for all those who believe in reconciliation and harmony among all peoples. | Being a piano student on the University of Mozarteum in Salzburg, I know Mr. Alberto Portugheis through mastercourses and piano conferences I attended. He has always inspired me as a musician, as a teacher, and as a person. Music connects people in a direct, sincere way. It makes us aware of the beauty and the power our own culture, as well as other peoples' cultures. Music-making was also proven to minimize aggression potential in children. A person like Mr. Alberto Portugheis, who contributes immensely to the world's music life, is in my opinion the best choice for the Nobel Peace Prize! |

No difference, from wich nation or wich origin human being is coming from, Alberto Portugheis has everytime and everywhere the right word and the right music. He has great nobility and understood to bring the message of the music for the peace for humans. His great heart gives every person peace in the own heart. So, therefore, I thank god, that I had the great possibility as a small person by myself, to meet, to hear and to get friendship with such a great man. 'No matter how much we educate people to dialogue, by also providing them with weapons, this education becomes invalid.'
The above is a statement attributed to Maestro Alberto Portugheis. I only recently met him through correspondences regarding peace and like the statement above his stance for peace is passionate and delving. During our dialogue, I did some research and found him to be involved in many peace activities for many years. In today's times, involvement is not enough. Commitment is required. Mr. Portugheis has shown commitment.
I highly recommend him for the Nobel Peace Price.
Sincerely, Dr. S. A. Crocheron |

I have know Alberto Portugheis since 2006. From that time he became a very good friend. I visited him twice in London and on both occasions I noticed, through his words and actions, his continuous preoccupation for Peace in the world.
Not one day goes by, without Alberto doing or saying something that shows his tenacity and worry. He accepts his self-imposed challenge of ridding the world from weapons, with great courage.
Cordially,
Alfredo Corral |

It is not enough acknowledged that music, the language without words, is the most powerful tool humankind possess in effecting reconciliation and respect, because it is a phenomenon of mutual experience and enlightenment.
I therefore support and applaud the nomination of the pianist Alberto Portugheis, who has communicated with passion the cause of pacifism not only through the act of hi distinguished music making but through his words and actions outside the concert hall in a long and distinguished career.

I wish to support the nomination of Mr. Alberto Portugheis for the Nobel Peace Prize because I strongly agree with the idea that the world should look for peaceful solutions to conflicts rather than by creating wars that will only make the conflicts worse. Wars can last for many years without solving anything, they only cause devastation to all the living beings and environments on the earth, if they stop they leave scars that are never healed. I know personally Mr. Portugheis and I think that he is a worthy person who can work hard towards the goal of achieving a mre humane world. I think that our society as it stands today cannot continue. Sincerely yours Clara Rodriguez www.clararodriguez.com |

| Alberto carries the burdens of the world on his shoulders for us and it is right that we now recognise the contribution he has made to creating a platform for peace in this world riven by conflict. He teaches us to see behind the weasel words of politicans and governments, to understand the ways in which warfare underpins our day-to-day existence - even in times of peace. He is a true Renaissance man: intelligent, aware, motivational, relentless and passionate. He deserves this nomination because his ideas should be heard by everyone - he is a voice of compassion and humanity in the twenty-first century when we need a new order based on peace and understanding. |

As a man who born free but tasted a bit of the Argentinian Military opression, and as an Israelian, who have the freedom of expression, the joy to live in a democracy, I can feel also the suffer from the Palestinian people of an almost endless war. I learn to look at the things form a very wide perspective. Shall we teach our childrens the MOST BASIC RULES, "We all live and were blessed to share a UNIQUE place in the universe, therefore we must be aware that "our rights ends, in the place where our neighbors rights start" then will be no more wars, suffer and missery.
I support Alberto on is great activity. Luis Pinievsky Jan 24th 2008 |

| Alberto Portugheis is a tireless warrior for peace in a strife torn world. His outstanding musical talents have enriched the lives of those fortunate enough to hear him play but his most vital legacy will be one of hope, exemplified by his behaviour as a human being in going beyond borders and boundaries, national and personal shows that it is never too late to take compassionate action. |

Excited by the nomination of Professor Alberto Portugheis, I gladly wish to add my name as a supporter. I am the Director of "Community Without Frontiers", a non-for-profit organization based in Britain and Israel. Our aims are very similar to those of Prof. Alberto Portugheis and we maintain contacts with similar organizations throughout the world. Right now we concentrate in collaborating with an Arabic organization, "Al-Nahda" (Awakening toward the future), and are about to start implementing our projects for schools and communities, beginning with the Arabic ones and Arabic-Jewish mixed communities and hopeing to work with the Palestinians in the near future. Actually we have begun weaving contacts with them.
Our projects are imbued with values as peace, education for all, human rights - individual as well as public, including health, shelter etc., equipping children and adults with "tools" how to struggle for these values without violence.
The projects contain Knowledge, touching basics of sociology, anthropology, economics, history, the arts etc.,in unique methods); Awareness &Aactive Iinvolvement. Although working hard for funding, including the EU (it is never easy), we do not lose hope, for ourselves and for all the others working for making our planet a place to live in peace, harmony and friendship.
Back to our Professor, we hope you will find him the right person to receive the Nobel Prise for Peace. The fact that he is a Concert-Pianist as well allows him to spred these values much more effectively.
Thank you for your attention,
Yours really sincerely,
Rivka Kashtan |

Telling us not to ignore that, acting to show how disgraceful is for humankind to continue to help and play along the rules of the arms race. He and anyone using his /her life to make us conscious of that, deserves to be heard from the highest point. |

Alberto Protugheis is a man of conviction, his peaceful vision of a world with no armies and no war is revolutionary. As an artist he understands that relationship between people will be richer if it is no more based on fear and hatred.
The nomination of an artist for the Nobel Peace Prize is a very strong symbol : it is admitting that the spiritual force of art goes beyond the materialistic violence of weapons.
Alberto Portugheis taught me that a knowledge which is aimed for destruction is a fake knowledge and that true art is love of life.
Yes,I support the nomination of Alberto Portugheis for the Nobel Peace Prize. |

| It is heartening to read about Alberto Portugheis and know that his simple, yet strong statement of desire is right. It should be the cornerstone upon which we choose to re-create the world order, borne out of love and respect for each other's life. Each death damages us all and wars serve only to strengthen the discord amongst people. And conseqeuntly, wars sever our birthright...by breaking the natural connectivity we all have for one another. |

| Alberto Portugheis is one of the few people in his position who is prepared to speak out and challenge what we are told as being alright. In fact so little that comes from official sources can be relied on, and it is people like Alberto who push you to look further than the spin we receive every day, and ask why? Recognition of his life's work will be but another step along the path for him, as he presses tirelessly at all hours of the day and night for what is right. |

A lot of people think that war is wrong but do nothing to stop it, Alberto Portugheis will tirelessly promote a world in peace and how it can be achieved, no matter how many people promote war, he will always be there standing against it and helping people to think and open their eyes, that I believe is what is most admirable about this candidate. |

| I very much agree that we should work strenuously to abolish war;however we should do this not only for humankind, but for the whole of reality which suffers every time we enter into any kind of armed conflict. We should honour and cherish the physical resources of the earth,as well as the myriad of different life forms. We have equal status as part of the whole and should not be singled out as being top of some imaginary hierarchy. |

To abolish a militarised world we would need to address our very instincts, as human society has evolved through the development of arms from the very beginning - from the descent into the plains, to the hunter gatherers and so on. My question is: how can human beings sublimate the need for supremacy and the paranoia of the other? They cannot all become artists.
Nevetheless I support Alberto Portugheis because we need people who nurture almost impossible ideals. |

First of all, Pride = I was born in LA PLATA! Great City. Regarding Mr. Portugheis "peace plan" let's hope it'll be possible to make it real one day; let's hope He'll find strong collaboration and support around the world - specially including governments and lot of people looking for same purpose & trying to reach it. Just for future human generations. Never say never. Maybe is still possible. Best wishes!! |
